Sign up and add your store

Create your MyCookieKit account, click "Add site", and enter your Shopify store domain (e.g. mystore.myshopify.com or your custom domain).

Copy your embed snippet

Paste into theme.liquid

In your Shopify admin go to Online Store → Themes → Edit code. Open layout/theme.liquid and paste the snippet just before the closing </head> tag.

Banner goes live

Save the file. Your GDPR consent banner is now live for all visitors to your Shopify store.

Does this work with all Shopify themes?

Yes. Any theme that uses theme.liquid (including Dawn, Debut, and all third-party themes) supports the embed snippet. The banner loads independently of your theme.

Do I need a Shopify app?

No app required. You paste one line of code into theme.liquid — that's it. No app permissions, no monthly Shopify app fee on top.

Will it affect my Shopify store's speed?

No. The script is under 5kb and loads asynchronously — Shopify's speed score and Core Web Vitals are unaffected.

Does it work with Google Analytics and Meta Pixel on Shopify?

Yes. MyCookieKit sends Google Consent Mode v2 signals to GTM, and can block Meta Pixel from loading until consent is given — helping you stay GDPR compliant with ad tracking.

Is Shopify's built-in cookie banner enough for GDPR?

Shopify's native banner is basic and does not implement Google Consent Mode v2, which is required for Google Ads to work properly for EU visitors since March 2024. MyCookieKit covers this automatically.
